About John Dee

Welcome to my personal art space! I’m John Dee, a passionate game developer and artist with extensive experience in UI/UX design and animation. Recently, I had the privilege of working with the Diablo team on asset and animation creation for Diablo IV and Seasons 1-3, where I played a key role in managing style guide development and collaborating with our UK partners, Electric Square. I thrive in collaborative environments, and I find great fulfillment in working towards shared goals.

My journey in the gaming industry began at Harmonix Music Games, where I contributed as a UI artist on Guitar Hero and Rock Band. This experience allowed me to diversify my skill set, engaging in both game art creation and marketing efforts.

At Vicarious Visions, I took the initiative to explore UI/UX designs for Project: Midnight (COD: WARZONE), where I helped shape the project’s visual direction, particularly with its vibrant 80s action movie aesthetic. During the development of Tony Hawk 1+2 and Diablo II: Resurrected, I led a talented UI team, leveraging each member's strengths to tackle artistic challenges collaboratively.

I approach my work with a focus on quality and execution, time management, and problem-solving. My meticulous planning ensures that we meet project goals without compromising our team's well-being. I excel in scenarios where design details are still evolving, using my visual problem-solving skills to create compositions that resonate with both users and designers. Beyond my core responsibilities, I contribute to initiatives that promote our company’s values, such as designing logos for internal documents and supporting local hiring efforts. I am committed to fostering a positive work environment, respecting everyone’s time, and collaborating effectively to meet tight deadlines.

As a leader, I prioritize open communication and flexibility. I lead by example, focusing on quality and maintaining a supportive atmosphere where team frustrations can be addressed. I collaborate closely with producers and directors to develop roadmaps and task deliverables, ensuring a dynamic creative environment.
